“A Chair is a difficult object. A skyscraper is almost easier.” — Mies van der Rohe. Mies

The objects we’ve designed have a dialog with the environment.

When did we start to design this chair we had all the time in mind the great sentence of Mies van der Rohe, so instead of feeling scared about the difficulty we thought in the opposite way, what could happen if a chair becomes a skyscraper? So we’ve decided to head the project as a building, where the function and the form bring the beauty and the materials the warmth.

So we’ve decided to head the project as a building, where the function and the form bring the beauty and the materials the warmth.

Following the simplicity, straight lines and the beauty of the materials of the German pavilion in Barcelona we decided to simply as the maximum the materials and don’t use any kind of hardware or external element, just the beauty of the wood.

Now it is been 10 years of this design, thankfully we have got this pictures from our good friend Antoni Borras.

Design is not only the final proposal, is also the relation with the environment, the users, the time, and the most important the process, the way how we achieve the end design is much rich than the result by itself.

Nowadays we have more afraid to design a skyscraper than a chair.

Thanks, Mies.
